GPRN/NSCN accuse NSCN/GPRN of violating ‘Covenant of Reconciliation’

DIMAPUR, JUNE 2 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has informed that its civil officer Chumthungo Lotha, Razou Peyu hailing from Marachui Village, Lotha Region, was arrested on 21st May 2011 and brutally tortured for three days. He miraculously escaped from the clutches of the NSCN/GPRN while being taken to town command cell, stated a press note from MIP GPRN/NSCN. Further it was informed that on 29th May 2011, at 6:30 PM, Mr. Chumben Kithan, Lotha Region Chairman GPRN/NSCN managed to evade arrest and torture at Bhagty Town while on official duty. His subordinate Renben Yanthan, Razou Peyu was arrested, tortured and all his belongings including cash and government documents were confiscated.
“The Covenant of Reconciliation among Naga political groups was signed as a commitment to Naga brotherhood. On one hand IM continue to embrace it and on the other they employ hostility and aggression”, stated the press note. The GPRN/NSCN stated that if the “IM has any regard for the Covenant of Reconciliation (COR), it must rein in its hoodlums at Lotha Region otherwise GPRN/NSCN would be compelled to initiate retaliatory action”. GPRN/NSCN also appealed to Apex Lotha Organisations to “impart Covenant of Reconciliation (COR) values to those stifling the peaceful atmosphere”.
