DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 13 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN strongly condemned today’s incident, where, a Naga Army personnel was shot at by the NSCN (K) at Mohonkhola, Kohima, where a mechanic tending the car was injured severely. This is the third attempt on the life of the said personnel, who miraculously escaped from the jaws of death, informed a press note issued by Ministry of Information and Publicity, GPRN/NSCN, Designated Camp: Khehoi.
The GPRN/NSCN stated that such kind of “barbaric activities clearly shows that the Khaplang boys are on a warpath to blindly shoot at anybody who comes in their way, be it the Naga Army or civilians”. “Attempting to take the life of someone when the world is celebrating the coming of the savior, ‘rendering a home without a father, leaving the wife widowed and the children as orphans will serve them a purpose as long as a man is dead’ seems to be their agenda”, the MIP note stated.
The GPRN/NSCN stated that heeding to the calls of the NGOs it had been “trying to walk on the paths of reconciliation, thus advising our cadres to keep low profiles in order to restrain ourselves from any untoward situations”. And this, being a festive season, the GPRN/NSCN stated that its cadres have been advised to “live up to the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliations”.
Stating that the “Khaplang rogues who were involved in today’s incident are the same boys who were earlier apprehended by the police while robbing a petrol pump at Kisama during the Hornbill”, the MIP note pointed out that they were released a few days back, “and today they are back at what they are good at, causing mayhem in the streets of Nagaland with their anti-social activities”.
The press note stated that such kind of people should have been awarded befitting disciplinary actions and discharged for marring the image of their organization, had the Khaplang group really been into the betterment of the Nagas. “But taking the boys back with open arms within their fold shows that the Khaplang group is heading forward without any directions, aims or objectives that can benefit the Nagas”.
