DIMAPUR, JULY 11 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has expressed profound gratitude to Sumi Hoho for extending a special invitation to N Kitovi Zhimomi, Ato Kilonser, GPRN/NSCN, on the occasion of Tuluni, the premier festival of Sumi Nagas at Zunheboto Town on 8th July 2011. According to a press ntoe issued by MIP it was not only a celebration of a festival but also an opportunity for Sumis, graced by a host of distinguished Sumi leaders, to strengthen the common vision of the Nagas as a whole.
“A strong Sumi society will be an asset to the common vision of the Nagas. Sumi people and the Indo-Naga political struggle will forever be synonymous with each other. Naga history acknowledges the fact that Sumi’s played a crucial role in battling the overwhelming military might of India. Both in war and peace, Sumis can play a positive role”, stated the press note.
Presently, it stated that the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) was waging for peace in Naga homeland and it will, therefore, require a great amount of courage from the Sumi frontal organisations, the Church, NGO’s and elders to guide the Sumi people to tread the path of peace and unity in consonant to the wishes of the Naga people. According to the MIP, Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi, in his speech on 8th July at Zunheboto minced no words in pointing out that the confusion among the Sumi people, post S.S Khaplang’s expulsion from NSCN, is compounded by the very fact that few emotional and ambitious Sumis are using the name of expelled Chairman Khaplang, who is oblivious of the happenings in Nagaland, to further their own interests.
“A progressive Sumi society must not become a victim of propaganda being churned out at Suruhuto Camp. Confusion is a state of mind that destroys positive vision”, the MIP stated.
