GPRN/NSCN (Kitovi) leadership meets Kuki national workers

DIMAPUR, JULY 15 (MExN): The leadership of the GPRN/NSCN (Kitovi), including Ato Kilonser and Working Committee (WC), NNPGs Convener N Kitovi Zhimomi, and Vice President Chennyiem Konyak, held a meeting with over 80 Kuki Region workers from both the civil and military wings, reaffirming the historical and political ties between the indigenous Kukis of Nagaland and the Naga national movement.

Led by senior GPRN/NSCN (Kitovi) leader C. Singson Kuki, the Kuki delegation recalled the contributions of Lengjan Kuki, described as “the legendary Lengjan Kuki, the only Kuki signatory of the January 10, 1929, memorandum to the British Statutory Commission,” who was hailed as “a beacon of light for indigenous Kukis of Nagaland.”

During the interaction, the Kukis of Nagaland were “reminded of their inseparable link with the Naga political movement, which is rooted in the soil of Nagaland.” The GPRN/NSCN stated that “the contribution of Kukis to the Naga political movement from 1929 till date was remarkable for a fact that Kukis had stood shoulder to shoulder with the Naga pioneers in the political movement, much earlier than our own Naga brothers from Manipur and this fact of history cannot be erased.”

The organisation warned that “to question the Kuki Naga National workers would be questioning the very Naga history itself and therefore Kuki National workers were encouraged to continue the legacy of the pioneers.” The gathering was also told “to ignore the false scripts of those late entrants of the Naga movement, trying to rewrite and diminish Naga history, identity and culture with dubious impractical narrative.”

The Kuki delegation expressed their support for the current leadership and direction of the GPRN/NSCN (Kitovi), acknowledging “the Leadership of GPRN/NSCN under the leadership of President Maj. (Retd.) R.M. Lotha and N. Kitovi Zhimomi, who is also the Convener of WC, NNPGs,” and reiterated that “Kukis of Nagaland, as stakeholders, would heartily welcome honorable and acceptable political solution between GoI and the Nagas.”

They affirmed that “indigenous Kukis would remain an integral part of the Naga political and social system and would continue to protect and defend Nagaland.”
The statement was issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), GPRN/NSCN (Kitovi).
