“GPRN/NSCN” nets “bogus tax collectors”

Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): The “GPRN/NSCN” in the past week said to have apprehended five “criminals” from Dimapur for collecting taxes in the name of the “ministry of chaplee affairs” of the organisation. ‘Secretary in-charge’ of ‘publicity cell’, Ghukiho Zhimomi briefing media persons at Khehoi informed that two of their accomplices believed to be the ‘kingpins’ are absconding.

The apprehended persons were identified as Aloho of Satami village, Aben of Shikiy village (present residents of Super Market), James of Lithsami village, Shekheto of Phushue village (present residents of Thilixu New village) and Sukivi of Phushue village and presently residing at Phaipijang village. Zhimomi said that the five will not be released until and unless the two absconding kingpins “surrender themselves” to what was said as the “government”.

He said that the persons printed duplicate cash receipts of what was stated to be “chaplee affairs ministry” from a printing press in Dimapur to carry out illegal taxation. It was learned that one of them, Aben, printed duplicate “challans” and gave it to Aloho who in turn gave it to the other three to carry out the collections. The group have been carrying out extortions by issuing the fake “challans” for quite a while, it was asserted.

Noticing that some printing presses are “abetting such criminals” the “GPRN/NSCN” functionary warned that the “government” will be forced to shut down such presses. “Owners are requested to properly scrutinise their employees” he said, who may be ‘taking advantage’ of the ‘absence of owners or managers in person’ at the printing presses. Printing presses, interestingly, are asked by the functionary to print only those “challans” which are issued through “responsible authorities.”

Meanwhile the ‘publicity cell secretary’ on behalf of the GPRN/NSCN “appeals to the business community to kindly see to it that they don’t give money to the wrong people” and try to “first identify whether they are real” or bogus. For which he informed the public can call up what was stated to be “chaplee affairs ministry” through its secretary at the phone number 9856848558 for ‘verifications’. He has appealed for active support of the public and the business community to ‘check the menace of extortion’.
