Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): Even after a lapse of one year, the murder of Late Rechungkiu, Tatar, GPRN/NSCN on 11th June 2008 continue to create tension between the communities involved i,e Yimchunger and Tikhir Communities, stated a press note issued by MIP, GPRN/NSCN. While stating that it was important to pursue a “compromise on the entire issue”, yet it pointed out that it was “equally important to report the fact lest the truth get lost in the whirlpool of justification and denial”.
It is evidently clear that the vehicle belonging to former Tikhit Tribal Council president Khaipong was utilized by Limitsong (Tikhir Tribal guards) in close co-ordination with Mr. Yamthong, then so-called E.O of the region (Muivah’s group), stated the press note. It was mentioned that the vehicle came to Wapher Village on 11th June 2008 and that later Tatar Rechungkiu was arrested and taken to Anatanger village and kept at Khaipong’s house. “The victim’s son too had trailed his father all along hoping he would be released by the captors. After six hours, towards early morning the victim was taken away to a location between Sukiur A and Sukiur B and shot dead”, stated the press note.
In view of the following facts, the GPRN/NSCN, has called for former Tikhir Tribal Council president Mr. Khaipong to tender unconditional apology for conniving with the adversaries in the murder of GPRN/NSCN Tatar. Secondly, the GPRN/NSCN demanded that the Limtsong be disbanded at the earliest for disturbing communal harmony and indulging in anti-National activity. “It has deviated from original principle and commitment towards Tikhir community”. It stated that a repetition of such blatant communal act in Tikhir area shall force GPRN to respond in a befitting manner.
