GPRN/NSCN on NC Hills turmoil

Dimapur, July 5 (MExN): The “GPRN/NSCN” has ruled out its involvement in the recent violence in the NC Hills. Responding to some media outlets which had earlier carried reports suggesting GPRN/NSCN’s involvement in violence in NC Hills, a press note from the Publicity Cell stated that “nothing could be more destructive than concocted journalism”. “The Killing of IM cadre on July 2 by Indian forces settles the matter as to who is indulging in terrorism”, the press note stated while expressing that the “GPRN/NSCN” was deeply concerned over the spiraling violence in NC Hills and that it does not see any solution through the acts of terrorism. “GPRN/NSCN has no involvement whatsoever in the present turmoil in NC Hills. It believes in ending the misunderstanding through dialogue between two communities. Any GPRN/NSCN civil or military official collaborating or assisting communal forces in the destruction of lives and properties in NC Hills does so for his personal interest and does not, in any manner, reflect the policy of GPRN/NSCN”, the Publicity Cell stated.

Pointing out that for centuries Zeme Nagas and Dimasas had managed to tackle all communal and destructive elements together and maintained harmonious and brotherly relations even during the most testing of times, the press note termed the “threat to the age old bond between the Nagas and other communities particularly in NC Hills” as a matter of great concern.

“GPRN/NSCN believes that destruction of lives and properties of Nagas and Dimasas in NC Hills is sheer madness and it must be stopped immediately”.

The “GPRN/NSCN” also stated that the “misunderstanding and animosity has further been aggravated by the involvement of armed miscreants pursuing their personal ambitions”. It stated that individuals or groups aiding and abetting communal tensions must be forcefully dealt with. “Confidence building measures must be initiated immediately by NGO’s and Civil Societies to re-establish the bond between communities”, it stated adding that “retaliatory killings of innocent civilians and destruction of properties is nothing but terrorism”.  It further stated that innocent Nagas and Dimasas shall continue to bear the brunt of terrorists until and unless these destructive forces are jointly confronted through social co-ordination. “Common wisdom must prevail over blatant destruction”.
