“GPRN/NSCN” releases 8 ‘kidnappers’

Dimapur, July 18 (MExN): Eight persons charged by the “GPRN/NSCN” of kidnapping one Virender Singh on June 27, have been released by the outfit. Following a “thorough interrogation,” the outfit said, “confessional statements” were “extracted” from all the “accused.”

Prior to their release from the custody, a bond was signed.  The persons were released on the condition that they will never indulge in activities “which are against the Naga society.” They are to report to the outfit as and when summoned and they are to “bear any punishment” as and when “arrested” by the group for any criminal offence in future. The ‘guarantors’ are also to bear full responsibility if any of the accused fails to abide by the bond, the note said.

A note from the ‘publicity cell’ identified the alleged kidnappers (with their “guarantors”) to be one Tohovi, son of a Aghovi of Luzheto village (‘guarantor’ Visheto), a Ikato son of one Late Phuheto of Shoxuvi village (‘guarantor’ Akiheto), one Himato son of a Lhokhizhe of Ghukiye village (‘guarantor’ Hetoka), a Bohoi son of one Ihovi of Vikuho village (‘guarantor’ Kivito), one Hukhevi son of a Hekhezhe of Nihoto village (‘guarantor’ Aghovi), a Toshevi son of one Vilohoto of Shoxuvi village (‘guarantor’ Akiheto), one Islam son of a Khoritali of Notun Basti, Dimapur (‘guarantor’ Puritali) and a Khuvito son of one Naucha of Tosheyi village (‘guarantor’ Khuvishe).

The publicity cell claimed that Dimapur police had arrested all the persons and interrogated them earlier but “somehow failed to unearth the crime.” So the persons were released. The group apprehended the persons and “after prolonged interrogation,” the suspects “admitted to the crime,” the note stated.

The “GPRN/NSCN” also informed that “a GPRN under secretary” in the “ministry” of “alee affairs” one Tokivi Yeptho was found to have ‘aided and abetted’ the persons by “providing logistic support in the kidnapping case.” He has been terminated from the “service” and also from the active and primary membership of the “NSCN party.” The ‘publicity cell’ note informed.
