
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 18 (MExN): In a major boost to the ongoing reconciliation process, the GPRN/NSCN on Thursday released NSCN (K)’s “Brig” Khamlong whom it arrested on July 9, 2012 for his “anti-GPRN activities.”
Acknowledging the humanitarian gesture shown by the GPRN/NSCN in releasing him, Khamlong, son of Hako of Papung village, in a bond agreement said that he “shall neither join nor involve in the NSCN (K) or any political group. He also agreed to abstain from any harmful activities that work against the interest of the GPRN/NSCN. Further, Khamlong said in the agreement that he shall in no manner intent nor try to incite or malign the principle and policies of the GRPN/NSCN. “Rather, I shall live to co-operate with the government of GPRN/NSCN,” he stated.
According to the agreement, Khamlong and his family or the witnesses would be held responsible if there was “violation or non commitment” to the points in the agreement and that it shall have no defiance in any court of law to any judgement passed thereupon by the GPRN/NSCN.
Besides Khamlong, the bond agreement was signed by GPRN/NSCN ‘kilo kilonser’ Hothrong Yim; GPRN/NSCN chief secretary, Khevikhu Kiba; ‘Commander’ GHQ Naga Army, Aheto Chophy; wife of Khamlong, Talila Ao and Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) President, Michael Kaita as witness.
Speaking during the brief programme at Khehoi designated camp, FNR Convenor, Rev Dr. Wati Aier said, “This is the day that we are strengthening the reconciliation process.”
Dimapur District Citizen’s Forum president, Hokiye Yeptho said that the release of Khamlong was a sign of accepting one another and that it also showed the earnestness and reflection of the GPRN/NSCN for the people. He said the DDCF shall stand all out for Naga reconciliation.
Representatives from ENSA, Eastern Khiamnuingan, in-laws (Dimapur Yaongyimsen Senso Telongjem) also spoke briefly.
In a rare gesture, the GPRN/NSCN presented an Ao Naga traditional waistcoat to Khamlong.
