Peace and unity is necessary for any society to flourish. GPRN/NSCN under the leadership of Gen. (Retd) Khole Konyak and General Secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi strongly believes that a safe and secure future for Naga generations is possible only through acceptable political solution between the GOI and the Nagas.
Today, just when Naga people began to believe that Nagas can understand each other, defectors and rogue elements using the name S.S Khaplang are threatening peace and harmony in the land. On his part S.S Khaplang has done the right thing by reportedly writing to Nagas in the western side to pursue their own practical political solution with GOI without disturbing him in Burma.
Naga people are informed that the incident at block 5 of Thahekhu Village on 6th September morning, wherein two members of the so-called K group were injured and some vehicle damaged, was because of a once faithful Naga Army officer going by the name of Khetovi Sumi in the rank of major, a part of Naga Army town Command, ran away to Suruhuto with some of his boys and arms on 31st September 2012. Maj. Khetovi was forced to run away to Suruhuto camp because sooner or later he would be put to trial and court martial would be followed for the following reasons.
1. Without the knowledge of the higher authorities, he had fined and pocketed Rs. 5,00,000 from ivory (Rhino horn) businessmen in the month of August.
2. One truckload of ‘Teez’ (Ghutka) a banned tobacco product was seized and the consignment was unloaded at his residence but was very soon released on payment of undisclosed amount to him.
3. A rice polishing machine used by Food Corporation of India (FCI) was seized and taken away by him and fined with undisclosed sum.
All these activities came to light and when the authorities set about investigating the issues, he ran away fearing imminent disciplinary action.
On 3rd September, he reached Dimapur from Suruhuto with some other members to begin their destructive activities in Dimapur. These gangsters stayed at the residence of Khetovi’s father and began their plan. On 5th of September, they attempted to raid the office of the Naga Army town Command. The same night they raided the residences and made abortive life attempts on Capt. Pukhato, Capt. Phusheto and Capt. Khonjang Konyak at different locations. It was sheer providence that none of the officers fell victim to these gangsters.
Regretfully, Naga army had to act against these rogue elements and therefore Maj. Khetovi’s residence at Thahekhu village was targeted as it was clearly becoming the epicentre of anti-national activity.
There are many other leaderless former comrades elsewhere taking the name of Khaplang in Nagaland who, like loose cannonballs, are disturbing peace and harmony in Nagaland on the orders of equally frustrated members at Suruhuto Camp. GPRN/NSCN believes former comrades must take bold decision and come back to the people. At this point of time, S.S Khaplang seems to have wisely confined himself to Nagas in Burma while Suruhuto Camp still believes S.S Khaplang’s name gives them legitimacy to create trouble in Nagaland. This belief is extremely unfortunate.
Despite the unfortunate attack on the residence of GPRN/NSCN Yimchunger Regional Administrative Officer’s (RAO) in which Khapur Tsingthong and a civilian Luthong were gunned down and a mother and a child injured on 2nd September 2012, GPRN/NSCN shall continue to hope that good sense will prevail among Suruhuto Campers because all stands for the same cause.
This is also to remind the GOI that the so-called Khaplang cadres are freely operating and threatening peace in populated areas. These rogue elements are supposed to be confined at Suruhuto camp. CFMG Chairman must explain how and why K elements are allowed to travel to Kiphire and Dimapur unobstructed with arms and ammunitions and murder people and threaten peace in Dimapur considering that GOI had rejected their demand for designated camp at Kiphire and Dimapur. The killing of GPRN/NSCN member and a civilian at Kiphire on 2nd and the incident at Thahekhu on 6th Sept., would not have happened had CFGR properly enforced and implemented strictly against misguided Suruhuto Campers. When raids and life attempts on GPRN/NSCN officials are reported each day, Naga Army shall not sit quiet.
MIP, GPRN/NSCN.
