
Wokha, April 29 (DIPR): Taking forward the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan programme initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a campaign was organised by Rural Development and Power departments at Shaki village in Wozhuro block under Wokha district on April 28.
Deputy Secretary & Nodal officer, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Sunil Pant, who was present in the programme held at Community Hall Shaki village, said the main objective of the campaign was to find out ways for improving the quality of life and eradicating rural poverty so as to improve the overall social and economic well being of the rural populace.
The official had close interaction with the participants with regard to all the schemes initiated by Modi. He enquired directly from the villagers about their living conditions and well being and also sought their opinions whether the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) programmes are benefiting them.
Further, Pant also enquired about the availability of LPG, LED bulbs, immunization of children, DBT bank account, Aadhaar enrolment, and status of opening bank accounts. The official commented that he was impressed with the clean environment maintained in and around the village.
Project Director, DRDA Wokha, Thungdeno Mozhui stressed on the importance of opening bank accounts and reminded that no cash transactions could be made to the beneficiaries without bank account.
BDO, Wozhuro, Chumthungo Khuvung proposed the vote of thanks, while Chairman Shaki village delivered the welcome note. Beside others, the programme was attended by officials from RD and Power departments, village council members, village elders.
