‘Gratification of voters is bribery’

Mokokchung, April 16 (DIPR): District Election Officer, Mokokchung, Lithrongla G.Chishi says distribution of cash, liquor or any other items for gratification of voters is bribery and it is a punishable offence. To check this, flying squads have been formed under each Police Station to keep watch on such illegal practices during election. In an appeal, Lithrongla also said anybody carrying huge amount of cash in any constituency during election should carry proper documents to show the source and end-use of such in order to avoid seizure by flying squads.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission’s expenditure observer Dr. S. S Dhavale, Additional Commissioner, Valuation, Mumbai and Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer Mokokchung, Lithrongla G. Chishi had a meeting with media certification and monitoring committee, video surveillance team & video viewing team and accounting team on April 15 in connection with conduct of bye-election to 26-Aonglenden Assembly Constituency.
