Kohima, June 15 (MExN): A gratitude social with the Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya on his completion of 5 years in office was held at Nagaland House, Guwahati on June 14.

Governor in his address recalled his first visit to Nagaland in 1963 and meeting with the then Chief Minister P Shilu Ao, stated PRO to Governor in a press release.

He said the people of the region are honest and appealed the educated youth to work for the welfare of the society and for all round development in the state and not be self-centered.

The Governor also called for change in the mindset of the people and opined that work is worship while stating no job is inferior. Skill education is the only hope for making the society stronger and economically sound, he added.

Protocol Officer Nagaland House, Guwahati, Apoveyi Nienu on behalf of the staff thanked the Governor for care towards the people of Nagaland and for initiating doctor, student and teacher exchange programmes and other welfare activities for the people of the state.

Short speeches were also delivered by Naga Students’ Union, Guwahati and Guwahati Eastern Naga Students’ Union wherein both presidents thanked Governor Acharya for his welfare, initiatives and care for the people of Nagaland especially in the education sector.

The programme was chaired by DRC Nagaland House, Guwahati Sentila Jamir who also proposed the welcome address. A special song was presented by children of Nagaland House staff and a special prayer for the Governor and his wife was conducted by Pastor NCFG, Peter Thong. Programme was attended by Staff members of Nagaland House and Office bearers of Naga Students Union, Guwahati & Guwahati Eastern Naga Students’ Union.
