A group of young concerned Dimapurians under the name ‘Green Dimapur Team’ conducted the ‘Clean Dimapur’ cleanliness drive in the main town area on April 1.
Daring the bad weather and rain, the volunteers started the drive from Deluxe Point till City Tower Area and Police Point dhobinullah and also places dust bins in strategic areas.
A note from the organisers stated that the drive was initiated first in the facebook group ‘Naga Discussion Forum’ by a few concerned citizens of Dimapur.
“Dimapur being the commercial hub of Nagaland, with its filth and lack of civic sense by its citizens is an eye sore and an embarrassment. The few people from Naga Discussion Forum moved to a whatsapp group to provide a bigger platform. Their ideas were shared and discussed and it was decided that for the first phase, only the main town will be concentrated,” said the organisers.
They also added that the core team members has bigger vision which includes going for drive in colonies and wards in Dimapur, visiting schools and colleges and eventually hold an open discussion forum with panelists being invited. “It is an appeal that everyone own up and keep Dimapur clean,” it stated.
