The Zhadima Students’ Union (ZSU) today conducted a plantation cum cleanliness drive at Zhadima village in Kohima district. From the stretch at Zhadima new gate to the old gate, students from the village planted 100 saplings of oak trees and others donated by Kohima Forest Division.
Students from all the eight Khels also cleaned the stretch from Zhadima gate to the sports Complex.
Every year on June 21, coinciding with the summer solstice, the ZSU conducts the annual cleanliness drive in the village in a bid to keep the village clean and to spread the message of cleanliness among the student community and to the general public.
This year, the students planted trees with the hope to contribute towards a cleaner and greener planet, creating the need to protect the environment.
On the occasion, the student body also installed three notice boards at three strategic locations in the village.
The plantation and cleanliness drive was led by ZSU office bearers headed by its president, Medolenuo Loucü. Leaders of the Zhadima Village Women Society also took part in the drive to encourage the students.
