
Dimapur, January 14 (MExN): On the occasion of Army Day, Lt Gen SL Narasimhan, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps has conveyed his greetings and best wishes to all ranks of the Army, ex-servicemen, civilians and their families. Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year to mark the historic moment of General (Later Field Marshal) K. M. Cariappa becoming the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of Army in independent India in 1949, the lieutenant general informed in a press release.
Acknowledging that all ranks of Spear Corps have been working together with the civil administration and people towards greater growth and prosperity in the North eastern region, he also expressed deep appreciation to the dedicated efforts of each soldier.

The Army’s efforts, the note said, to undertake infrastructure development projects, motivate school children, conduct of vocational training, provision of medical & veterinary services and empowerment of women in the remotest part of the country have made a significant difference towards the overall growth of the region. The lieutenant general further saluted the brave soldiers who have made supreme sacrifices in the line of duty, while urging for rededication “to work tirelessly to assure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.”
