Jalukie, July 20 (MExN): The Griffin Football Club defeated Hornbill Football Club by a solitary goal to win the 2nd Edition of the New Jalukie Super League (NSL) at Playground, New Jalukie on July 19.

Griffin FC walked home with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with trophy, citations and medals while runners-up Hornbill FC received Rs 30,000 along with citations and medals.

Chingthaipou of Hornbill FC was awarded the "Man of the Match" in the final match.

The league, an annual 7-a side football event, started on June 25 and six clubs participated this year.  

During this season each clubs owned one guest player and minimum two U-18 players each, informed a press release from the organiser. 

Meanwhile, Lungpetsing Thou of Bridge Colony FC was awarded as the "Best Goalkeeper," while Gairiupou of Anubis FC was adjudged the "Most Promising Player." 

Kawijibo of Griffin FC was the the Top Scorer (7 goals) and Chingthaipou of Hornbill FC was declared the  "Player of the Season.”

Gaisinthui Kamei of Hornbill FC won the "Best Club Manager" title. 

All the winners of the individual prizes were awarded with Rs 3,000, citation and medal each, the release informed. Harpy FC was awarded as the “Best Discipline Team.”

The closing ceremony was graced by Liangkebo Pamai, Chairman New Jalukie Village Council as a Special Guest and he also distributed the prizes to all the award winners.

Earlier during the day, an exhibition match was played between NSL and Peren District Football Association (PDFA) officials. The match ended 2-1 in favour of the NSL officials.
