Mon, February 15 (MExN): Expressing dismay over the shortage of teaching staff at Wangkhao Government College (WGC), Mon, the Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) has condemned the “gross negligence and disregard for the welfare and future of the students.”
“It is a matter of great shame that while the students are begging to be taught, the Department responsible is unable to fulfill the needs of the students by providing teachers,” the apex Konyak women organization stated.
Earlier on February 13, students of WGC took to the streets in protest against the inadequate number of teaching faculty in the college.
The press release claimed that the college and the Konyak organizations have made repeated appeals to the department since 2019. However, it added, assurances for redressal have been given on several occasions by the department without any action.
Pointing out that the WGC is the only college in the entire district, it called on the department to address the matter on priority, “else the economically constrained students of Mon district will have wasted their year and resources due to the failure of the Department.”
