DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland has in a notification directed all concerned Departments/Agencies/Firms (including private firms) executing extraction of ground water resources in the State along with the list of wells constructed by them, to register with Geology & Mining Department which has been designated as the Nodal Department for management of ground water resources by enforcing regulation to control and monitor ground water extraction in the State and to generate data based Ground Water Information System(GWIS). This was stated in a press note issued by Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Nagaland. “This is done so as to expedite the process of re-estimation of ground water resources for final approval of the State Level Technical Committee on Ground Water Resources Estimation in the State of Nagaland”, stated the press note.
