GST deadline: Taxes Commissioner asks dealers to enrol on or before March 31

Dimapur, March 21 (MExN): Commissioner of Taxes, Nagaland, Asangba Chuba Ao has informed that the last date for enrolment of dealers under Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been fixed for March 31 for the whole country.

In a press release today, he conveyed the information of CEO of Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) that the process of enrolling for GST will only be available upto the aforementioned date.

Dealers failing to enroll themselves within this period may face deregistration under the current VAT law and have difficulties to register afresh for GST. This will affect smooth transaction of business under the GST regime which will likely come into effect from July 1, 2017, the release cautioned.

It was further informed that the Department of Taxes has set up facilitation centres in all its offices across the state to assist dealers for enrolling in the GST portal with facilities such as computers with internet, scanners, printers as well as trained staff to assist in the enrolment process.

The dealers who have still not received their provisional IDs and passwords issued by GSTN are to log in to the state VAT portal using their current credentials or immediately contact their respective tax office and collect the same. Those who have enrolled but have not submitted details should also do so within the timeframe using Aadhaar e-sign or Digital Signature Certificate, the Commissioner stated.

A helpdesk has also been set up with phone number 0124-4688999 for assistance and queries may be sent by email to helpdesk@gst.gov.in. More details may be found in the departmental website www.nagalandtax.nic.in
