GST Grievance Redressal Committee meeting for Nagaland State convened on February 25.
Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): The GST Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) meeting for Nagaland state was convened on February 25 under the chairmanship of Chief Commissioner CGST & Customs Guwahati Zone, in charge of the northeast region, SK Sinha.
A press release received here stated that the meeting was attended by senior officers from both Center and State GST along with representatives from leading trade and industry bodies including Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), Young Indians (Yi) Nagaland Chapter and other representatives of trade and industry.
The meeting was also attended by Chartered Accountants and Tax practitioners.
The GST Grievance Redressal Committee meeting is a forum to address taxpayer grievances and operational issues faced under GST.
Matters related to raising tax exemption limits for Nagaland under the Composition Scheme and the Quarterly Returns Monthly Payment (QRMP) scheme, structural and policy issues such as inclusion of petroleum products under GST to allow businesses to claim ITC on fuel, problem of illegal taxation faced by local businesses, need for more awareness and outreach programmes were some of the main issues raised by the business community during the meeting.
Representatives from Young Indians also shared their feedback on the recently conducted “GST Sahyogi” programme where the CGST Commissionerate trained 35 youth nominated by the business community in an endeavour to create a pool of local talent to assist the small and medium businesses in GST compliance.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by SK Mahanta, Commissioner CGST who thanked the attendees for their participation and encouraged the trade to actively use the Grievance Redressal Committee as a forum for constructively addressing GST issues faced by the business community in Nagaland.
