An awareness campaign on Goods & Services Tax (GST) was held here today at the Town Hall organized by the Department of Taxes, Government of Nagaland, Mokokchung and Central Excise & Service Tax, Government of India, Shillong with Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel IAS as the chief guest.
Traders and dealers from all over the district of Mokokchung attended the programme today where resource persons where the two Superintendents of Taxes, Mokokchung Zulutemsu Longkumer and Chubanaro along with Sanjeet Kumar IRS, Assistant Commissioner and Amit Kumar Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Central Excise & Service Tax, Government of India, Shillong were the resource persons.
Saying that Nagaland state was one among the first few states to ratify the Constitutional Amendment Bill on 26th August 2016 which paved the way for the implementation of GST, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Sushil Kumar Patel added that the GST regime would be of manifold benefit for Nagaland state. He also encouraged the business community to “align with the new system in order to keep up” with the change as “change is inevitable.”
He also assured the traders and dealers that the state government would stand up to the challenge in providing all necessary support to all the stakeholders in the days ahead. “All officers and staff have been trained at various levels and are now competent to implement GST and also to provide the necessary assistance to tax payers,” he added.
Zunheboto: Meanwhile in Zunheboto, awareness programme on Goods and Service Tax (GST) organised by Department of Taxes was held at Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ZCCI) Office on May 12.
Speaking at the program as resource persons, Superintendent of Taxes, Zunheboto, Jimyang Imlong deliberated on the present burden of taxes due to lack of uniformity and said GST is a win-win benefits for every citizens as it will reduce multiplicity of taxes, reduce in prices and a common national market. He also emphasised on conditions under which multiple registration may require for a single entity.
Inspector, Bendang also spoke on tax returns under GST regime and also encourages entrepreneurs to approach officials in case of hardships. The program was attended by government officials, ZCCI officials and entrepreneurs of Zunheboto town.
