GST training programme concludes at NIAPA in Chümoukedima

Chümoukedima, March 20 (MExN): A two-month GST filing and tax return practical training programme organised by the Northeast India Academy of Performing Arts concluded at its office in Chumoukedima on Friday.

The programme was sponsored by the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission under the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland.

According to an update from NIAPA, the course, which commenced on March 9, was designed to provide structured theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical exposure in GST compliance, return filing and accounting using Tally Prime. A total target enrolment of 25 students was set for the training.

The academy expressed optimism that the initiative would enhance employability and support local businesses by creating a pool of skilled GST practitioners.

Addressing the closing ceremony, trainer Chandra Kumar highlighted the importance of continuous learning and practical exposure, stating that the course would be updated to meet evolving industry requirements. He said the training had provided participants with clear direction, enhanced knowledge and the confidence to pursue careers in taxation and accounting, adding that such skill-based programmes promote self-reliance and professional competence.

Speaking on behalf of the institute, Akuonuo K Yhome underscored the growing need for practical skills in the business environment. She noted that while graduates are available, there remains a gap in skilled professionals, and said the initiative was aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs and businesses facing challenges in GST compliance.

The closing programme was chaired by Azo, while a trainee representative also addressed the gathering. Certificates were distributed to participants, followed by a group photo session and light refreshments.
