CHÜMOUKEDIMA, DECEMBER 27 (MExN): The 1st annual sports meet 2023 of the Gorkha Students’ Union Chümoukedima District (GSUCD) got underway at at Singrijan Village on December 27 under the theme, “Empowering students through sports.” The event was hosted by Singrijan & Khopanala Village.
Speaking on the inaugural, UBSI Tepulesa Thapru, Officer-in-Charge, Sovima Police Station said education alone is not enough for students and said they should also focus in the field of sports, which will also help them become more disciplined.
Guest of honour, Meghraj Lama, president of Gorkha Students’ Union Kohima asserted that God has blessed Gorkhas in many ways while encouraging the gathering to take sports as a profession and urged them to be wise in the advanced world.
Special invitee John Thakuri, president of All Nagaland Gorkha Students’ Union in his exhortation urged the Gorkhas of Chümoukedima district to be good citizens and help the Naga society grow.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Arjun Limbu, joint sports secretary GSUCD while invocation was offered by press & information secretary, Enos Rai. A special performance was presented by Dream Works Taekwondo Academy village, while welcome note was offered by general secretary, Ajay Thapa.
