Dimapur, July 12 (MExN): Gorkha Students' Union Dimapur (GSUD) organized first ever Mister and Miss Gorkha Dimapur on account 205 Bhanu Jayanti 2019 cultural and pageant show at Dimapur town hall.
A press release from the GSUD stated the programme started with an invocation prayer by Pastor KR Sampang Rai followed by presentation.
Speaking on the occasion, special invitie Rahul Chetri former ANGSU President (All Nagaland Gorkha Student Union) depicted the work of Adi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya for whom we now speak a common united Nepali language.
Guest of honor Annie Jain, Director of Dimapur 24/7 urged the students to do their best in whatever they do stating that “the deed will ultimately recognize the person.”
She also reminded the Gorkha leaders in different field like Sunil Chetri and freedom fighter, Martyr Major Durga Malla.
Chief Guest of the event, Akashe K Zhimomi, President of DCCI (Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry) urged the students to have passion in whatever they do and spoke of the importance of good character. He asked the students not to just depend on Government job but to be an entrepreneur and help the society.
Highlights of the programme included Khukuri dance by Singrijan/Khopanala youth, dance by SD Jain Gorkha students. Special guest, DGU chairman Kumar Subba also gave a speech.
Prema Chetri was crowned Miss Gorkha, while Mr Gorkha was won by Prakash Shrestha. 1st runners up was awarded to Aishwarya Poudel and 2nd Runners up to Reshmi Chetri. Whereas 1st runners up Mr Gorkha was awarded to Subash B Ghataney and 2nd runners up to Aman Chetri.
The title of Miss Charming was awarded to Navita Subba and Mister Cool to Arun Pradhan. Miss and Mister Multimedia award was won by Gayatri Chetri and Roshan Pradhan. Vote of thanks was delivered by Ajay Thapa, GSUD general secretary.
