GTZ to fund Climate Change Project

Kohima, September 15 (DIPR): The week long GTZ (German Technical Cooperation) and Capacity Building International (InWEnt, Germany) appraisal mission to Nagaland ended today with the signing on the Minutes of the Meeting between Lalthara, Chief Secretary, Nagaland and Dr. Hans Helmrich, the Team Leader of the appraisal mission. With this GTZ has committed itself to fund a technical cooperation project on climate change adaptation in Nagaland. 

The project is intended to enhance the livelihood resilience and adaptive capacity of rural people in Nagaland to climate change and variability. The project shall be implemented with a variety of implementing partners including NEPED, private sectors, NABARD, Churches, and relevant NGOs. This shall be done by developing value chains in key areas to promote productivity for enhancing household income, developing appropriate technologies, market linkages and research. The project is likely to take off by April 2011.
