Gunfire returns to haunt Zbto

Dimapur, April 15 (MExN): The NSCN-IM today said it “is unfortunate to reveal the fact” that at about 8 in the morning “some Khaplang force attacked Naga Army camp at Ambuvito near Zunheboto town while its cadres were steadfastly observing ‘fasting and prayer service.’” In retaliation the NSCN-IM “overran the stronghold of the Khaplangs which ultimately resulted to the death of 6 Khaplang boys and the capture of 6 arms.” The arms include an AK rifle, an SLR, an M-21, two 303 rifles with ammunition and a rocket launcher shell. “Three more Khaplang boys were also captured alive but were later rescued by the combined forces of CRPF, IRB and Assam Rifles.”

“The GPRN therefore requests the general public of the area to kindly understand the gravity of the said situation and bear with the inconveniences arriving thereof.”

Meanwhile, The NSCN-K has charged rival cadres of vandalizing the residence of NSCN-K Ato Kilonser, N Kitovi Zhimomi at Amiphoto colony, Zunheboto. A press note from “military spokesman” Isak Sumi stated that the cadres forcefully broke into the house and destroyed household goods including children’s computers, mini-pool board and TT board besides “damages to both interior and exterior building with bullet shots and other heavy objects.” Almirahs and closets were broken and valuables were all looted. Even furniture, utensils, television sets, refrigerators etc. were destroyed or taken away. This incident occurred while the entire family was attending the church service and not a single person was at home, it stated. The date of the incident was not mentioned.

The note also mentioned that in 1987, a Maruti car belonging to Zhimomi’s wife was seized at Longpho. The wife and children were made to walk on foot the entire journey.  Besides, two Maruti cars were seized in 1988 and 1999 at Chungtia and New Camp near Mokokchung, it alleged.

In light of such vandalism and looting of personal properties on the pretext of national struggle, the Ato Kilonser offers his entire properties to NSCN-IM Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and  invites his kith and kin “to immediately occupy the building in case of Isak’s inability to come himself, this gesture is genuinely from the heart and reciprocity on Isak’s part would make me the happiest person on Earth for I believe in being a happy person by making other’s happy and it may also enable Isak to enrich his coffer, though my  entire assets cannot be compared to a single Isak’s son’s commercial enterprise” the note quoted Zhimomi.

“Whereas Isak Chishi would be held answerable and also own up the responsibility for all such perpetration, should he fail to respond to the offer” it stated reiterating the offer, hoping if it was to “pave way for attainment of long cherished destination of the Nagas.”
