Guv greets Pochury, Khiamniungan

Kohima, October 4 (MExN): Nagaland Governor PB Acharya has extended his warm greetings to the Pochury Community on the occasion of Yemshe Festival, and the Khiamniungan Community on the occasion of Tsokum Festival. The two festivals are celebrated post harvest by the Pochury and Khiamniungan communities.  

Greeting the two communities, the Governor called for focusing on more welfare project/schemes for the welfare of farmers by reaching out to them and motivating them to take up Central Government Welfare Projects.  

The Governor stated that Nagaland is a state where most of the rural population are dependent on agriculture and called for initiative to be taken up for development of irrigation infrastructure, rainwater harvesting and Solar Energy for agricultural activities.  

Towards this end, he urged NGOs, Hohos, social organisations, church leaders, and student and youth organisations to be the nodal agents in reaching out to the kisans and involving them in welfare projects. “Much of the welfare project are not known to the kisan. The youths and various organisation groups have a duty to reach them,” the Governor stated.  

“May this festival bring peace, unity and wellness to each and every household,” the Governor’s message read. “Let the festive period be a blessing and also promote the spirit of love and forgiveness.”
