Tseminyu, January 9 (MExN): Gwasinlo Thong was elected President of the Rengma Hoho for the 2026–2028 tenure at its General Executive Body Meeting held at the Town Hall, Tseminyu, on January 9.
Besides Gwasinlo as President, Thomas K Rengma was elected General Secretary, while Khillo and Phillip Kent were elected Vice Presidents.
Other office bearers included Anilo Rengma (Secretary), Kenneth Woch (Media Secretary), P Ngabu Tep (Cultural Secretary), A Khekiya Ghaponza (Finance Secretary), and Sosin Ras and Renosin Kath (Women Coordinators).
During the meeting, the General Body approved the Rengma Hoho Constitution (4th Amendment).
The meeting further resolved to induct the Rengma Nzonkhwen Literature Board, the Rengma Nthenyi Literature Board and the Rengma Sports Association into the Rengma Hoho Executive.
Earlier, Vice President Hanenmu Semy delivered the welcome address, while the keynote address was delivered by Er Tesinlo Semy. Rev Dr Phanenmo Kath, Professor at the Christian Theological College, Jorhat, was the theme speaker and spoke on “Reformation of Leadership in the Contemporary Rengma Context.” A special song was presented by Yhunyele Magh.
