Born in 1940, Chang was one of the few senior most national workers who had volunteered with deep fervor to serve for the Naga nation from his early age in 1964, a condolence message from the NSCN/GPRN MIP stated on Sunday.

“Late H Jami Chang was also the first President of the Hakchang Student Union. He was a staunch patriot and a veteran leader of the Chang community aand the Naga people. Best known for his penchant as a modest and determined man from his early age, late H Jami Chang decided to serve for the larger cause of the Naga society and joined the Naga national service as a Razoupeyu during the tumultuous years of the national movement in the 1960s and rose on to hold eminent responsibilities with much providence and statesmanship under various capacities during his life time in the Naga national service till his last breath,” the message read.

In his passing away, the Chang community and the Naga nation has lost a great and an able leader whose contribution and service will remain honored in days to come, it said, adding that his legacy of sheer dedication and exemplary service for the Naga nation would be fondly revered in the history of the Naga national movement.
