It further informed that it is likely to weaken and cross Bangladesh's coast between Khepupara and Chittagong in the evening of October 25 as a ‘cyclonic storm’ with wind speeds of 65 to 75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph.

Consequently, in a weather bulletin issued on Tuesday morning, the IMD has issued rainfall alert (orange & yellow) for most of the North-East States as well as Coastal Districts of Odisha and West Bengal on October 24 and 25.

Heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and south Assam on October 25, it added.

The national weather agency predicted "Light to moderate rainfall at some places with isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorm & lightning over coastal areas of Gangetic West Bengal” on October 24.

Squally wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, are likely to prevail over Mizoram and Tripura, and strong wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph, gusting to 50 kmph, are expected over south Assam & Manipur on October 25, as forecasted by the IMD.

However, the rainfall activity is likely to weaken from October 26.

Meanwhile, the IMD stated that the VSCS 'Tej' in the Arabian Sea has crossed the Yemeni coast and weakened into an SCS over coastal Yemen.

"It is very likely to move further northwestward and weaken into a cyclonic storm during the next 6 hours," it updated based on weather pattern at 8:30 AM of October 24.
