UNISED provides learning resource kit to teach in effective way

A four day hands on training on mathematics and science subject teachers under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA), organized by Nagaland Education Mission Society, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland in association with Unit of Science and Education Development UNISED concluded here this afternoon at the Directorate of School Education.
In pursuance of the focus on connecting school based knowledge to life outside the school and making learning of Science Mathematics a joyful and meaningful activity, to bring focus on innovation and use of technology, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has set up the RAA - a convergent framework that aims at nurturing a spirit of inquiry and creativity, love for Science and Mathematics and effective use of technology amongst children and encourage those who show an inclination and talent for these subjects to be encouraged and supported to heights of academic excellence and research.
Through this training, UNISED provided learning resource (mathematics and science) kit to the teachers to teach the students in effective way.
During four day long training programme, 92 teachers were trained in two phases, covering Dimapur, Kohima, Phek and Kiphire districts.
Resource persons were from IIT Kanpur/IIT Guwahati. Mentionably, Government of Nagaland has signed MoU with IIT Kanpur to train 92 science and maths teachers to be the trainers.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Menukhol John, principal secretary for school education & SCERT called upon the teachers to be ambassador of bringing change.
He also asked them to reach out to others and motivate them. “Let us be the agent of change in the years to come,” he said. He also suggested that there should be zonal trainings for similar programme in the coming days.
Speaking on behalf of trainees, Hanchulo James, science teacher from GMS Tesophenyu Upper expressed happiness to UNISED for providing equipments, saying that it will very useful in teaching the students. “It is going to be very effective and we are going to make a difference,” he said and assured to make the best use of it.
Javed Alikhan, Director UNISED talked on the pre-assessment and post assessment of the training programme. Dr. AK Tripathi, education advisor to the President of India, was optimistic that by using the equipment in teaching maths and science, the students will perform better.
The function was chaired by RMSA mission director Limawabang Aier while vote of thanks was proposed by school education director Wongthungo Tsopoe.
