Har Ghar Tiranga walkathons held in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 11 (MExN): Har Ghar Tiranga walkhathons or rallies were held in several parts of the State on August 11. 

The Nehru Yuva Kendra Kohima, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with St Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Lirie Kohima organised a Tiranga Rally as part of Har GharTiranga Campaign with participation of around 1500 students.

The rally started from the school premises to CRPF camp, Lerie where the school and all other participants carried the Indian flag besides chanting slogans, band party and songs.

A short program was held at CRPF camp along with the CRPF Jawans where the flag was hoisted at their campus. A speech was delivered by John Makhabo, Director – in-charge NYKS, Nagaland. 

A three day bike rally was also flagged off by Commander, 5 Sector Assam Rifles at Kohima Garrison Helipad on August 11 to encourage people to bring the Tiranga Home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of independence. The Rally in collaboration with KK Motors, Royal Enfield is to symbolise an act of personal connection to Tiranga and our commitment to nation-building. 20 avid Bikers of Kohima town on this occasion were encouraged by patriotic songs of Jazz Band

The District Administration Mon in collaboration with DEF Mon organized walkathon from Local Ground to Council Hall, Mon. The walkathon was flagged off by MLA, N Thongwang Konyak. 

Upon reaching the Council Hall, a programme was held where the MLA paid homage to the freedom fighters, while also expressing his gratitude to all the participants especially the students. He stressed on the importance and the significance of the national flag. 

DC Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS highlighted the significance of the colours in the national flag. He stated that the walkathon was held to spread awareness on Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and thanked all the participants. 

SP Mon, Imnalensa IPS stated that this experience would be a lifelong memory for all the participants to cherish. He stated that the aim of the campaign is to make all the citizens identify and be one with the national flag. 

The participants also took the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan Pledge led by Additional SP, Mon, Ado Yanlem, who expressed hope that the programme would ignite a feeling of patriotism within the participants. 

The programme was chaired by EAC Mon, MolosanglaOzukum, while the opening and closing prayers were pronounced by Pastor, MTABA, Lipok Pongen and Pastor, PBCM, Banwang. The event also witnessed a special number by ABC Atzing K Konyak. 

In Tseminyu, the walkathon was led by Dr Zasekuolie Chusi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu and Kanchan Kumar Kandpal IPS Superintendent of Police, Tseminyu. 

The DC stated that every household and institution in the district should hoist the national flag from August 13 to 15 to show respect and unity. The SP said that Har Ghar Tiranga means sacrifice, peace in the society and prosperity in life.  

At Longleng, the campaign was organised by the District Administration Longleng from Lempong Junction to Hukpang Junction. 

Before the flag off, DC Longleng, Dharam Raj, IAS briefly highlighted the purpose of the rally, and expressed gratitude to all the participants for taking out time to be a part of the rally. 

Government Officers, Staff, GBs, DBs lead by the District Administration participated in the morning rally.
