Harmonic Voices is winner of 1st Nagaland Choir Olympics

Harmonic Voices of Kohima district was today declared as winner of the 1st Nagaland Choir Olympics held at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma.


This event was organized by Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) and managed by Musicians Guild, Nagaland.


Winning the competition, Harmonic Voices was awarded a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh along with a running trophy. Cantamus Choir from Dimapur district bagged the first runner-up and awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.


The Canticles from Phek district stood 2nd runner-up and received Rs.25, 000.


Theja Meru, advisor TaFMA, Dr. Hovithal Sothu, project director TaFMA and Sachin Sharma gave away prize to the winners.
10 choirs from 10 districts presented two songs each at the competition.


Pauline Warjri, director, Aroha Choir, Shillong, Ajeen Longchari Sucha and Mhonroni Lotha, assistant professor in conducting, Margaret Shishak School of Music, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) were the judges of the event.
