HASSU youth fest begins

Morung Express News Dimapur | May 19   A three-day Youth Festival of Highway Area Sumi Students Union (HASSU) began Thursday at NE Agri Expo site, Dimapur with Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control, Jacob Zhimomi as the chief guest.  

Addressing the gathering, Jacob emphasized on the importance of preserving and utilizing mother tongue wherever possible to keep the dialect alive. He also spoke about promoting the culture and tradition so that the younger generation would remain intact with the origin of their roots.   Pointing out the negative impacts of technology, Jacob advised the youngsters to use it in a positive manner useful for them and the society as well.   Further, Jacob talked about the excess government employees in the state and asked young people not to solely depend on the government for employment but to venture into private field with their skills and talents.   “No work is below standard. You have to be sincere, humble, hardworking and be consistent in your endeavours to be successful,” Jacob added.   During the programme, Thilixu Youth Choir presented special number while competitions were held in various cultural performances.   The youth festival will culminate on May 21 with Director, We for Women, Vikali A. Zhimomi as the chief guest.
