Have dialogue and come to an amicable solution, urges ANCSU

Kohima, February 9 (MExN): All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) has made a fervent appeal to the Government and the protesting organisations to have dialogue and come to an amicable solution without any further delay so that normalcy is restored at the earliest.

The student body while making the appeal said, “We beseech everyone concerned that neither our future nor our academic career should be compromised in any manner. We pray to the Almighty that good sense, reason and logic prevail and to guide our leaders to reach a mutually acceptable agreement without delay.”

The All Nagaland College Students' Union, as students, also raised a few points for the Government as well as the protestors to consider urgently. ANCSU, president, Zhoku Thuluo and general secretary, Benjong Longchar in a press release said that demonetization policy of the Government of India had affected several families in the sense that they could not withdraw even their savings to pay for the admissions of their children. However, the matter was worsened since the Government offices have not allowed to be opened and now, due to non-receipt of salaries, many students are facing problems getting their admissions done.

The Union stated that “the war-like condition” in many parts of Kohima, Dimapur and other district headquarters due to presence of large numbers of security personnel has had a negative impact on the minds of the younger generation which certainly does not bode well for the psychological development of the generation proclaimed to be the future of the Nagas.

Further it added that tens of thousands of students are due to appear their examinations shortly and this social unrest is not helping them at all prepare for their examinations.

Meanwhile, ANCSU convey expressed shock and dismay over the unfortunate January 31 incident in Dimapur and Longleng. It condemned the barbaric act of security person by killing two citizens brutally and injuring many others. The ANCSU also counter the state Government for neglecting the voice of the people which has caused lot of chaos and violence in the state to the extent of killings of innocent life.

The union also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family of Avizo Metha and Bendangnungsang Ao and prays for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
