For somebody who has had no formal training and claims to take help in directing videos and films through a book titled “How to Direct”, this guy does a pretty fantastic job. Liyo Kikon from Headhunters Entertainment was here at Hiyo Café, Dimapur for the first screening at Dimapur. Headhunters Entertianment, comprise of five talented and young filmmakers- Liyo Kikon, Kele Yhoshü, Lanso Yanthan, Cynthia Kolakhe and Imnawapang Longkumer
“Explore Kohima”, a thirty seconds advertisement showcasing Kohima was also previewed to the audience. Liyo who had recently visited New York with a group of Naga filmmakers says that while interacting with foreigners, he had a hard time trying to encapsulate the beauty of Nagaland. And this was how the idea to make an ad of Kohima came about. He shares that he has plans to make similar and better ads soon.
Another short video “Ancient Gangsta” of his younger brother Chan Kikon beatboxing, a popular form of music was also screened. The group has also made a promo video of the song, “Save Me” from popular band OFF. “The Debt”, a superb twenty minutes movie written and directed by Liyo Kikon was also screened.
Liyo says that The Debt was also screened at New York during his visit and which met with applause from the filmmakers there. “The Debut” came about when a friend of Liyo challenged him to make a short film using few actors and with a room as the only background. This talented youngster says that he loves a challenge and the end product was eventually “The Debut”.
