Kohima, September 21 (MExN): ‘Heal Together’ is a mental health campaign initiated as part of BWAP (Beauty With a Purpose) by Kenei Ritse, who held the title of Miss Nagaland 1st Runner-Up in 2022, alongside being crowned as Miss Phek 2022 and serving as the SVEEP Election Icon for Phek district.

Kenei Ritse collaborated with her dedicated team, known as Team Afti, where “Afti,” derived from Greek, symbolizes “we will listen to your story.”

The three-day mental health awareness campaign took place in Pfutsero Town from September 14 to 16, drawing participants from various educational institutions.

Over the course of the event, an impressive total of 200 individuals actively engaged in the discussions.

The campaign encompassed a diverse range of topics, including self-esteem and well-being, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, the perils of digital addiction, substance abuse awareness, as well as clinical sessions addressing depression and mindfulness.

The campaign enlisted the expertise of esteemed resource persons, such as Dr. Nouzhienino and Miss Gurumanyum Melody Sharma, a clinical psychologist from the Department of Psychology at Tetso College. Additionally, Kilentola Jamir, a holistic counselor and human development facilitator, lent her valuable insights and support. The ribbon cutting for the project was done by Dr Vepfuhu Kezo, the Medical Officer of Pfutsero and the closing ceremony was graced by Maj Aditya Shankar, Company Commander Assam Rifles Base Pfütsero. This project was in collaboration with BASN, Pfütsero Government College (Anti-sexual harassment cell) and Tetso College.

In her inspiring address, Kenei Ritse revealed her motivation for venturing into the world of pageantry: a deep-seated desire to champion social causes, particularly the pressing issue of mental health. “As a psychology student, I occasionally questioned my own readiness to provide assistance and support to those in need. Nevertheless, I steadfastly maintained that one need not amass extensive experience or certifications to make a positive impact; all that's truly required is a big heart”.

Kenei Ritse also acknowledged the unity of the entire community, which rallied behind her and Team Afti to transform this vision into a remarkable reality.
