Kohima, March 19 (MExN): A Health and Wellness Park, an ICONIC PROJECT under LADF 2023-2024, was formally inaugurated at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Kohima Village, P Khel on March 19.
Addressing the gathering, Helievio Solo, Chairman of the Kohima Village Council, underscored the importance of community well-being and equitable development through the effective use of the Local Area Development Fund (LADF), mentioned a press release issued by the organizers.
He emphasised that the park would serve as a vital space for fitness, recreation, and fostering communal harmony.
With the upcoming delimitation process on the horizon, Solo urged political party workers to remain vigilant and proactive. He highlighted the critical role of Gaon Buras (village chiefs) in ensuring proper utilization of the LADF, a key resource for community development and welfare.
“The LADF is entrusted to the local MLA not for personal gain but as a common fund for the upliftment of the community. Everyone must stay vigilant and work towards achieving meaningful and widespread development,” Solo asserted.
Solo further emphasized that the LADF should not be concentrated in one location but distributed effectively across various areas to ensure balanced and inclusive growth.
He also acknowledged the efforts of the NDPP party for initiating the PHC project, which is expected to benefit five surrounding villages by enhancing healthcare accessibility.
Additionally, he mentioned the upcoming activities of the NSF Martyrs’ Trophy, reflecting the community’s dedication to promoting cultural and sporting events.
Earlier, the event was chaired by Dziesekuolie Kire and began with an invocation prayer led by Rev. Dr. Ruokuovilie Sachü, Pastor of Khedi Baptist Church.
A report on the project’s finances was presented by the Treasurer, followed by a vote of thanks, marking the official opening of the park.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, community leaders, and residents.
The press release further mentioned that the inauguration of the Health and Wellness Park is seen as a progressive step towards holistic development, aligning with the Kohima Village Council’s vision of ensuring that resources are effectively utilized for the community’s overall growth and well-being.
