Wokha, March 13 (MExN): Medical Department, Wokha in collaboration with District Administration organised health awareness programmes at Aree Old village and Longsachung village on March 12 and 13.
Dr Thungchanbemo Ezung, Chief Medical Officer Wokha said the activities were organised under the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Vineet Kumar, IAS to spread awareness on various diseases, immunization, importance of ante natal check-ups and health insurance schemes among the rural communities. He expressed gratitude to the village community leaders for extending their support to conduct the programmes, a press release from Chief Medical Officer’s office, Wokha stated.
The medical team was led by Dr Thungchanpeni Patton, District Immunization Officer Wokha. She spoke on Reproductive Child Health and Immunization.
Dr Benchumi Humtsoe, Medical Officer (Obs & Gynae), District Hospital Wokha informed the participants on importance of ante natal check-ups and family planning. Medical staffs from various vertical programmes also shared on topics such as Malaria, HIV & AIDS, Tuberculosis, Oral Health, Non communicable diseases, Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Card etc.
The awareness programme at Aree Old was chaired by Dr PithungoKikon, Chairman, HCMC and at Longsachung by Chenio Ezung, Vice Chairman, Village Health Committee. Health screening was conducted after the programme. Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were distributed to the participants during the programmes by district IEC staffs.
