Health awareness seminar held in Mkg

Mokokchung, June 11 (MExN): A health awareness seminar was conducted at Sangtam Baptist Church, Mokokchung on June 10. The programme was organised by ENPUM, facilitated by Department of Health & Family Welfare Mokokchung.

The facilitators were Dr Supongmeren, Sr Specialist Obs & Gynae IMDH, Dr Imlisenba, Peadiatrician IMDH and Matsungshila, CHO Longkong. Watisenla Jamir, DCM NHM was the moderator for the seminar.  A press release from the office of Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung stated that welcoming the participants, N Chuba Phom, Assistant Planning Officer Mokokchung requested them to learn through the seminar and amplify the knowledge gained to the community as well.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr Kibangkumba, Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung urged the participants to focus on the health related topics to be addressed by the felicitators of the seminar. He expressed that preventive measures and knowledge beforehand goes a long way in reducing health concerns that we face today. 

He further urged the participants to spread the knowledge acquired from the awareness seminar not only to near and dear ones but also to those who might be unaware and away in their villages.

Health topics on matters of pregnancy and delivery such as importance of ANC and PNC, institutional deliveries and government schemes and High Risk pregnancies, importance of immunization and AEFI, Exclusive breastfeeding and complimentary breast feeding and early childhood diseases, Family planning (spacing) and community process (NCD, role of ASHAs) were addressed during the awareness seminar.
