Officials from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, including CMOs and Medical Superintendents, participate in a state-level review meeting at the Directorate’s Conference Hall, Kohima, on May 9.

KOHIMA, May 11 (MExN): The Department of Health & Family Welfare held a state-level review meeting to assess the implementation of key health programmes across Nagaland’s districts at the Directorate’s Conference Hall in Kohima on May 9.
The meeting, chaired by Dr. Mereninla Senlem, Director and Head of Department, DHFW, was convened under the leadership of Anoop Khinchi, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare. During the session, Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and Medical Superintendents presented district-wise updates through PowerPoint presentations, highlighting ongoing initiatives, progress, and persistent challenges.

Among the major issues flagged were shortages of manpower, inadequate infrastructure, insufficient medical supplies, and the absence of fire safety equipment. Despite these constraints, officials noted that districts were actively pursuing critical healthcare certifications such as National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), MusQan, and LaQshya.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Mereninla acknowledged the difficulties faced at the district level and assured that the department would work towards resolving them. She urged health officials to take ownership of their responsibilities, set examples through leadership, and build stronger community engagement for improved health outcomes.

The review was attended by CMOs, Medical Superintendents of District Hospitals, District Programme Officers (RCH), District Programme Managers (DPMs), Programme Officers, and Section Officers from the Directorate.
