LONGKENG, MARCH 22 (MExN): The District Health Society Longleng organized a multi-specialty health mela at the Shetap Village community hall in Tamlu Block on Friday, providing free medical consultations and services to local residents.

According to a press release from Media Officer Angshom Chemdok, doctors and healthcare staff from various medical programs, including Immunization, NTEP, NVBDCP, MICTC, Maternal Health, NCD, Dental, NPCB, Medicine, and General OPD, participated in the event. A total of 114 patients received medical attention, with screenings conducted for various health conditions.

Among the key services provided, 11 antenatal care check-ups were conducted for pregnant women, while 76 tests—including random blood sugar (RBS), hemoglobin (HB), pregnancy tests, blood grouping, and MICTC screenings—were performed. Additionally, 17 sputum samples were collected for tuberculosis testing.

The mela also facilitated the distribution of Ayushman Bharat health insurance cards to eligible beneficiaries. Awareness programs, including interpersonal communication (IPC) sessions and focus group discussions (FGDs), covered topics such as family planning, maternal and child health, adolescent health, immunization, antenatal care, and newborn care. Information, education, and communication (IEC) materials were distributed, and free medicines were provided to attendees.

The District Health Society Longleng expressed gratitude to the medical professionals and volunteers for their contributions to the event and reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare access in the region.
