
Kohima, April 27 (MExN): Under the aegis of National Health Mission, Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kohima along with District Health Society, Department of Health & Family Welfare, NHM conducted health mela at Sendenyu village on April 27.
A press release stated here that the CMO, Dr. Ritu Thurr encouraged the gathering to avail all the services, participate in various group discussion for a healthy life style and practice for better health seeking behavior. The CMO mentioned that the target groups were children and pregnant mothers. He stressed on the community level where the VHC should take initiative for Village Health & Nutrition Day (VHND) and to channelize for visit of Medical officer to the village once a while. He also informed the gathering that IMR & MMR has drastically reduced due to awareness.
The ambulance was provided by Tseminyu CHC with MO I/C. Viswema, CHC MO I/C also rendered Dental Surgeon and ambulance service. Two specialists from NHAK – Dr. Avono Sophie (Pediatrician) and Dr. Azo (Gynae & Obs) provided service during the health mela.
ICTC screenings were done to 16 clients where four patients were for ANC and an elderly woman of 100 year came to avail health service. Lab test were provided with free medicines and distribution of IEC materials. Altogether, 215 people availed the health services at the mela.
