KOHIMA, JULY 16 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS, has issued a fresh directive restricting the movement of heavy vehicles along a landslide-affected stretch of National Highway-29 near the old KMC dumping site. The official order, issued in continuation of the earlier one dated July 7, stated that the restriction was necessitated “in view of occurrence of multiple landslides along the National Highway-29 at Chainages: KM 175.100 & KM 175.350 (near old KMC dumping site).”
As a precautionary measure, the order clarified that “the movement of heavy vehicles along the affected stretch shall be restricted till further orders.” The restriction applies specifically to six-wheeler heavy vehicles, as outlined in the earlier directive.
All such vehicles are to be diverted via the Peducha Bridge–Tsiesema (10 Mile) road “with immediate effect,” the order stated. While no ban has been placed on light motor vehicles (LMVs), the administration has advised those bound for other districts to take the same alternative route: “Peducha Bridge–Tsiesema (10 Mile).”
