Hebron Higher Secondary School, Sovima, Dimapur, held its Annual Day cum Parents’ Day on Saturday at the school premises with Teisovise Metha, Commandant NAPTC, as the chief guest.
On the occasion, students from the various classes presented delightful songs, and exceptionally well-choreographed dances and skits much to the delight of the gathering who cheered all along.
What was evident from the performances, besides their talent, was the incredible degree of professionalism. There were no glitches – technical or otherwise – with each student executing their assigned task flawlessly.
An impressed parent got on stage to express her gratitude to the school and lauded the teachers for their hard work in moulding their children in ways “beyond expectation”.
Chief Guest on the occasion, Metha sought to highlight the importance of education as “all round development” and not just “academic knowledge”. Mentioning the oft-quoted “Education is not confined to the four walls of a classroom,” he urged the students to take responsibility for their learning.
Whether or not one becomes successful is entirely dependent on the individual – not someone else, he exhorted. “You yourself will decide your future,” the NAPTC Commandant maintained.
Addressing the parents, the chief guest stated that the task of bringing up a child is a “great responsibility” and in this regard, urged them to have the quality of “selflessness”.
To the teachers, Metha encouraged them to be “role models” since students spend a lot of time in the school. “Also, keep increasing your knowledge,” he further urged.
