‘Helping Hand Day’ at Bongklong Village

Peren, April 29 (MExN): Assam Rifles organised a ‘Helping Hand Day’ at Bongklong village in collaboration with PHC Ahthibung and Veterinary College, Jalukie.  

“Bongklong, one of the remotest villages of Peren District is always in need for the basic needs of life in terms of medical and veterinary assistance,” stated a press release issued by Matthew Hangsing, Bomgkolong Village, Peren.  

Doctors from Assam Rifles and Dr. Vezokholu Khamo, MO PHC Ahthibung counseled and treated 203 patients. All the patients were provided with free medicines. Pregnant mothers and old age people were the highest beneficiaries of the drive.  

Dr. Subumanium from Veterinary College Jalukie and his team of four doctors and 16 students reached out to the masses and conducted a door-to-door drive for the pets of the villagers. 127 pets were given de-worming medicines, vaccination and health kits during the camp.  

Meanwhile, Hiareu Ndang, Counsellor, MACS, Peren conducted a seminar on AIDS to spread awareness amongst the locals. Free Malaria, TB, HIV & HB test were also conducted for the villagers and students.   

A refreshment point was also set up for the villagers who came from long distances.
