
Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): In view of the developing situation in Nepal and the advisory issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, the Government of Nagaland has released contact details for emergency and other support for any person from Nagaland stranded in Nepal.
According to the advisory, individuals may contact the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), NSDMA, Home Department, Government of Nagaland through email at seoc.nsdma@gmail.com or sdma.nagaland@gmail.com, and by phone at 0370-2291122, 2291120, or 22291123.
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Nepal has also made available its helpline numbers: 977-9808602881 and 977-981032613.
Further, persons from Nagaland presently in Nepal have been advised to take shelter in their current places of residence, avoid going out onto the streets and exercise all due caution. They have also been advised to follow local safety advisories from Nepal authorities as well as the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
ENCSU appeals
Meanwhile, the Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has appealed to the Chief Minister of Nagaland to urgently intervene for the safe return of Nagas stranded in Nepal.
In a representation to the Chief Minister, the ENCSU said that ongoing political and social unrest in Nepal has left several Nagas without the means to return home. The Union stated that these individuals are facing hardships and uncertainties and called for the state government’s immediate intervention to ensure their safe repatriation.
The ENCSU urged the state government to coordinate with the relevant authorities to arrange necessary travel documents and logistical support for those stranded. It also requested that assistance be provided to them on arrival in Nagaland to ease the concerns of both the stranded individuals and their families.
“We request your urgent action to address the plight of Nagas in Nepal and to ensure their safe and speedy return,” the ENCSU said in its representation.
