Dimapur, Dec 22 (MExN): On receiving reports of encroachment upon Government land, Parliamentary Secretary for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Y. Hewoto Awomi today paid a surprise visit to the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry office at Veterinary Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur.
The Parliamentary Secretary inspected the Department’s land which is reportedly being encroached upon by unscrupulous persons. Hewoto, who was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, K Nzimongo Ngullie, SDO (C) Tarep Imchen, Deputy Director, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Dimapur, Dr Kevi Chakhesang and other officials of the department, expressed dismay over the fact that Government land was being encroached upon more and more each day.
Taking a first hand assessment of the state of affairs, the Parliamentary Secretary directed the DC Dimapur to issue a stern order that no Government land should be encroached and that stringent action would be taken against defaulters/encroachers. He has asked the district administration to re-examine and verify the pattas properly.
The Parliamentary Secretary was shocked to see building materials such as stone chips, sand, bricks etc beside the department’s hatchery. Hewoto said that such practices should be curbed and called upon the people to refrain from encroaching upon Government land.
Officials of the department also apprised the Parliamentary Secretary about the difficulties they face particularly from the encroachers who produce pattas and sometimes even threaten the officials.
DC Dimapur KN Ngullie assured to look into the matter in detail and said that the land pattas of the encroachers would be verified. The DC called upon the officials of the department to report encroachment of any sort so that the district administration could take necessary action.
In a subsequent order, the Deputy Commissioner has issued a warning that stern action would be taken against any individuals undertaking any unauthorized construction/developmental activities on land occupied by the department. Taking strong view that unauthorized constructions and ‘developmental activities’ are being carried out by certain individuals the DC ordered stoppage to all such practices with immediate effect. Failing to comply with this order would invite necessary action against the defaulters as per provisions of law.
