KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 14 (MExN): The Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland has observed that many of the study/research/survey involving human subjects for medical purpose has been conducted in the State without the knowledge of the Department.
Stating that such exercises without approval and knowledge of competent authority may lead to legal and ethical implications for which it will not be responsible, the H&FW department in a notification in public interest has henceforth directed that due official procedure be maintained for any such exercise and approval of the Ethics Committee of the Department is mandatory.
It cautioned that disciplinary action would be taken against those who do not follow the official procedure. In this connection, the Department has directed the respective district health authorities/ research organizations/individual researcher to ensure compliance.
